Melanie Bennett

          Melanie June Bennett, 63, of Diboll, was born November 8, 1957, in Baytown, Texas and passed away at her home Monday, August 16, 2021 in Diboll, Texas.

          Melanie loved our Lord Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Lord and Savior. Melanie had a deep love for family and friends. She was always helping with whatever anyone needed. She often said, “when she was helping others, God was taking care of her needs and that she appreciated the opportunities to help others no matter how small it seems to her, it may be really big to them.”

          Melanie loved to cook, sing and play guitar,  as well as take care of plants and loved growing vegetables in the garden. She always thrived while working out on the farm.

          She is survived by her sister, Sabrina Porter and husband, David, whom she referred to as brother; long-time friend, Richard Beale; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that she held close to her heart.

          She was preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne Cathey; grandmother, Kathryn Janell Cathey; beloved uncle, Gary Wayne Cathey; and kindred spirit sister, Sandy Moore Stephenson.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
