Melvin Edward Gibbs, II

        Memorial services for Melvin Edward Gibbs II, 59, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Mark Newton officiating.

          Mr. Gibbs was born on May 27, 1963, in Lufkin, Texas, to William E. Gibbs and the late Ross E. (Maddox) Gibbs, and died Saturday, August 6, 2022, in Lufkin.

          Mel loved his dog Casey and taking her for walks, he enjoyed his work at Gateway and his Sunday school class at First Baptist Church. Mel enjoyed people and always greeted everyone with a smile. He loved the Lord and always talked about what he learned and talked about in Sunday school. Mel loved to sing, and Sound of Music could be heard all over the house as this was his favorite DVD. Mel would sing along as he knew all the words. Mel and Donna enjoyed shopping at Walmart and going out to eat every Saturday at his choice. Mel’s smile and bubbly personality will be greatly missed.

         He is survived by his father, William E. Gibbs and his sister, Dona R. Gibbs.  

          He was preceded in death by his mother; grandfather, Melvin E. Gibbs; and grandmother, Era Brown Gibbs.

         The family would like to give special thanks to Jayci and Patricia with Affinity Hospice and Kathy and Chris Modisette for their care.
