Memorial services for Michael David Cotie, 75, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Brother Ty Phillips officiating.
Michael was born on August 26, 1949, in Galena Park, Texas to Bernard Cotie and Allibly (Anderson) Cotie, and passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 In Houston.
Michael was proud to serve his country as a United States Air Force Senior Airman Dog Handler during the Vietnam War. Michael went on to work at Cameron Iron Works as a welder before moving on to work as an operator for Explorer Pipeline for 33 years until he retired in 2012.
Michael found great joy retiring to Lufkin with his wife, Susan, to live on the family farm that has been passed down through four generations. He enjoyed being able to garden, tend to his land and property, raise cattle, horses, chickens, quail and various other farm animals throughout his life. He loved being able to pass down his welding and metal working skills to the next generation of farm stewards.
Michael is survived by his wife of 10 years, Susan Cotie of Lufkin, TX; daughter and husband, Cheryl and Jay Vaught of Friendswood, TX; son and wife, Gary and Andrea Cotie of Seabrook, TX; son, Christian Cotie of Pasadena, TX; grandchildren Ava Vaught, Andi Vaught, Adison Cotie and Austin Cotie; brother and wife, Philip and Barbara Cotie; sister and husband, Joy and Frank Danna; sister-in-law, Diane Cotie; sister-in-law and husband, Sherry and Clark Bennett; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Benny Cotie.
