Mildred “MiMi” Marshall Obituary

Funeral services for Mildred “MiMi” Marshall, 85, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Lufkin with Dr. John Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.

On March 16, 1938, a beautiful and loving woman was born to Arnold and Evie Drosche in Lexington, Texas. She grew up with 3 siblings: Alton Drosche, Joyce Drosche, and J.D. Drosche. Our heavenly Father called her home to Heaven on January 2, 2024. She had fought a valiant fight with back problems. After back surgery she got pneumonia, and her tired little heart just couldn’t beat anymore.

Mrs. Marshall married the love of her life, John, on April 10, 1982. They were blessed with 36 years of pure happiness and devotion to each other. They were members of Harmony Hill Baptist Church and attended the Lavan Watts Sunday School Class.

Mimi loved life! She loved to work in her yard, which was always beautiful! She loved her family and grandkids and great grandkids most of all! To the extent that she would bring in a sheet to put on the floor and put sand on it so they could play in the sand during bad weather! I joked with her that I hoped they never wanted to rob a bank because she would have driven the getaway car. She also loved watermelon, popcorn, chicken fried steak, and playing “42”.

Mimi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Gary Long of Lufkin; stepsons, Mark Marshall of Lufkin, and Paul Marshall of Katy; grandchildren, Rori Hicks and husband Michael, Ginger Montgomery and husband Darrell, Tracie Johnson and husband Mickey, Candice Burns, Brianna Marshall, Danielle Valdez and husband Dominic, Nichole Marshall, David and Talisha Long, and Troy and Deborah Miedema; great-grandchildren, Jaren Charvoz, Blaine Charvoz, Layla Hicks, Bailey Montgomery, Cole Montgomery, Brooke Linville and husband Brandon, Blyss Johnson, Kenedee Burns, Preslee Burns, Bryce Long, Jake Miedema, Lillie Miedema, and Anne Miedema; great-great-grandchildren, Bryar Linville, and Margot Domonic; and special friend, Carolyn Goodwin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Evie Drosche; husband, John Marshall; brother, Alton Drosche; and sister, Joyce McDonald.

Pallbearers will be Jaren Charvoz, Blaine Charvoz, Blyss Johnson, Bailey Montgomery, Cole Montgomery, Allen McDonald, Drew Modisette, Jon Drosche, and Jason Drosche.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Long, Gaddy McDonald, J.D. Drosche, Mark Marshall, Paul Marshall, Michael Hicks, Jeremy Charvoz, and Jerry Tippith.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses at Woodland Heights in the ICU and Step-Down Units and to Harbor Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Harmony Hill Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service.
