Nedra Ann (Innerarity) Creamer Obituary
Nedra Ann Innerarity Creamer, 83, of Huntington, Texas, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Huntington, Texas. She was born June 26, 1942, in Houston, Texas to the late Edwin Innerarity and the late Laura Kirk, and lived a life as varied and full of grit as anyone who knew her would expect.
Nedra wore many hats over the course of her years. She served as a prison guard, work that asked for steadiness and a thick skin — both of which she had in good supply. She was a devoted caregiver, the kind of person family and friends turned to when someone needed looking after. And alongside her husband Paul, she was a drag racer, trading the quiet of home for the roar of the strip and loving every minute of it.
The sea was her other great love. Nedra returned to the coast again and again, drawn to the water in a way that anyone who knew her came to recognize. She and her longtime partner Dale Howard spent many years living aboard a sailboat in a marina — a chapter of her life she cherished, with salt air, slow mornings, and the rhythm of the tide right outside the door.
She was also the keeper of her family’s story. Nedra served as the historian and genealogist for both the Innerarity and Creamer families, tracing roots back through generations and preserving names, photographs, and memories that might otherwise have been lost. The work of remembering — of honoring those who came before — was one of her greatest passions.
Nedra was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Innerarity and Laura Kirk; brother, Robert Innerarity; husband, Paul Marcus Creamer; daughter, Cynthia Ann Pirtle; and longtime life partner, Dale Howard.
She is survived by her sister, Beth Thigpen and her husband, Jerry; sister, Davrice Innerarity Matheny and her husband, Rodger; son, Mark D. Creamer and his wife, Dagmar; daughter, Laurie G. Steward; son, Matthew L. Creamer and his wife, Jennifer; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren — the family she so carefully chronicled and so deeply loved.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Huntington Health Care for the kindness, compassion, and dignity they showed Nedra during her time in their care.
