Orvil Allen McMullen

          Graveside services for Orvil Allen McMullen, Sr., 93, of Nacogdoches, will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Gann Cemetery in Pollok with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating.

           Mr. McMullen was born on January 19, 1932, in Grapeland, Texas, to the late Athene Allen McMullen and Ruby Jewell (Jones) McMullen, and died Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in Lufkin.        

          Mr. McMullen worked as a truck driver for many years and made many lifetime friends on his journeys. In all of his years of truck driving, he was able to visit 49 states and Canada. Orvil loved horses and enjoyed trail rides. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Orvil never missed a good meal with family and always took pride in his appearance. Orvil was a great storyteller who loved sharing stories about family, horses, and his many traveling adventures.

          He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Lambert of Houston, TX; daughter, Terri Goss of Nogalus Prairie, TX; daughter, Gail McMullen of Lufkin, TX; son, Allen McMullen of Campbellsville, KY; son, Roger McMullen of Nacogdoches, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Christel and Shilpan Patel of Shreveport, LA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Cootsie and John Williamson of Nogalus Prairie, TX.

          Mr. McMullen was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanean McMullen; daughter, Pamela Stubblefield; brothers, Billy McMullen and Jerry McMullen; sister, Tinkie Andrews; and sons-in-law, John Lambert and Eddie Goss.  

          In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Therapeutic Riding Center, 300 Bevans Cir., Heath, Texas 75032.

          Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
