Pedro "Junior" Moreno Obituary

            Funeral services for Pedro “Junior” Moreno, Jr., 66, of Diboll, will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas, officiated by Pastor Matthew Tatum. Interment will follow at Forest Haven Cemetery, Diboll, Texas.

            Mr. Moreno was born on December 11, 1958, in Weslaco, Texas, to the late Pedro C. Moreno, Sr. and Guadalupe (Silva) Moreno, and died Friday, November 21, in Houston.

          Mr. Moreno resided in Diboll, Texas in his younger years and worked for Mims meat packing company. He later transferred to Corpus Christi with his job, where he resided for 22 years. Approaching retirement, he moved back home to Diboll, Texas. Mr. Moreno was a hard worker who proudly provided for his family and others. He enjoyed working on cars and building small objects around the house. He was the boss of the BBQ and enjoyed a good cookout. He loved and adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

          He is survived by his loving spouse, Terry Moreno; daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Lou Sanchez of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jason Walker of Leesville, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Michael Day; daughter, Heather Saldana; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Allen Peterson; grandsons, Julian Sanchez, Jace Walker, Justin Saldana, Anthony Lopez, and Travis Collier; granddaughters, Reyna Witherspoon, Jordan Collier, Karlyn Perkins, Farrah Peterson, Finleigh Peterson, and Ella Peterson; granddaughters-in-law, Christine Walker, and Samantha Velasquez; grandsons-in-law, James Witherspoon, and Rustin Perkins; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Anita Moreno of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister and brother-in-law, Aida and Robert Del Toro of Groesbeck, Texas; sister, Elizabeth Segura; brother and sister-in-law, Carlos and Christy Moreno of Houston; brother, Isreal Moreno of Diboll; brother, John Moreno of Diboll; brother and sister-in-law, Jaime, Jr. and Kelly Moreno of Diboll; and numerous nieces and nephews.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sara Moreno; sister, Lupita Moreno; brother, Jaime Moreno; nephew, Pedro Del Toro; niece, DeZarae Page.

          Pallbearers will be Julian Sanchez, Jace Walker, Ian Moreno, Travis Collier, Anthony Lopez, and Justin Saldana.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos Moreno, Isreal Moreno, John Moreno, Jaime Moreno, Jr., Arturo Sanchez, Jason Walker, Michael Day, and Alan Peterson.

          Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin, Texas.
