Funeral services for Penny Gonzalez, 63, of Lufkin, Texas will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home with Brother David Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Berry Cemetery in Lufkin.

           Mrs. Gonzalez was born on June 7, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Jimmy C. Davis and Ellanae (Evans) Davis, and died Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Lufkin.

          With the nickname “Lucky Penny”, Mrs. Gonzalez was a  vibrant soul and the undisputed "Bingo Queen". She brought immense joy, luck, and laughter to every bingo hall she visited, always ready with her favorite dauber and a smile. While she had a passion for travel, she preferred keeping her adventures close to home, knowing that the best destinations were always just a short drive away. Above all else, her heart belonged to her family; she loved them fiercely and unconditionally, finding her greatest pride and deepest joy in her children and grandchildren, and her beloved cats. She will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by all who were lucky enough to know her.

         She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Shane Holster; son and daughter-in-law, William and Amanda Calhoun; grandchildren, Chase Calhoun, Keifer Holster, Harlie Holster, Natalie Holster, Joey Calhoun, Marae Pounds, and Caede Pounds; great-granddaughter, Hayzlee Calhoun; brother, Buddy Mason; sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Robert Tucker; sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Robert Brumble; and Rob Hall.

          Mrs. Gonzalez was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gonzalez; her parents, Jimmy C. Davis and Ellanae (Evans) Davis; brother, Ben Mason; and sister, Pam Mason.  

          Pallbearers will be William Chunn, Chase Calhoun, Devin Snell, Marty Spies, Jr., Cody Bowen, and Craig Logan.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Holster, Robert Tucker, and Austin Harris.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home.
