Ramona Licea Vasquez

     Funeral services for Ramona Vazquez Licea, 69, of Lufkin, will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.  at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lufkin with Father Jose Salvador Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

     Ramona was born on August 26, 1952, in Santa Barbara, Guanajuato, daughter of Ramón Vásquez and María Vásquez and passed away on April 14, 2022, in Houston.

     Ramona loved spending her time doing crafts, her favorite was working with flowers and making beautiful arrangements for her home. She enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her garden. Ramona dedicated her life to her family; she loved to cook and bake for them. Ramona's best moments were when she was with her grandchildren.

     She is survived by her husband of more than 40 years Eloy Licea; son and daughter-in-law, Jorge Licea and Rosa of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy, and Terry Zavala of Lufkin; grandson, George Licea of Lufkin; grandson, Nolan Purvis of Lufkin; granddaughter, Natalie Purvis of Lufkin, step-granddaughter, Victoria Zavala of Diboll, and several brothers and sisters along with other family and close friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramón and María Vásquez; her father-in-law, Jesús Licea and her mother-in-law, Rosa Licea Mendoza.

     Pallbearers will be Terry Zavala, Jorge Licea, Tacho Nowak, and Jimmy Meza

     The visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.

     Los servicios funerarios para Ramona Vázquez Licea, de 69 años, de Lufkin, se llevarán a cabo el jueves 21 de abril de 2022 a las 2:00 p.m. en la Iglesia Catolica de San Patricio en Lufkin con el Padre José Salvador Vásquez oficiando.  El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Garden of Memories.

     Ramona nació el 26 de agosto de 1952 en Santa Bárbara, Guanajuato, hija de Ramón Vásquez y María Vásquez y falleció el 14 de abril de 2022 en Houston.

     A Ramona le encantaba pasar su tiempo haciendo manualidades, su favorito era trabajar con flores y hacer hermosos arreglos para su hogar.  Le gustaba pasar tiempo al aire libre trabajando en su jardín. Ramona dedicó su vida a su familia; le encantaba cocinar y hornear para ellos.  Los mejores momentos de Ramona fueron cuando estaba con sus nietos.

     Le sobreviven su esposo de más de 40 años Eloy Licea; hijo y nuera, Jorge Licea y Rosa de Lufkin; hija y yerno, Nancy, y Terry Zavala de Lufkin; nieto, George Licea de Lufkin; nieto, Nolan Purvis de Lufkin; nieta, Natalie Purvis de Lufkin, nieta Victoria Zavala de Diboll,  y varios hermanos y hermanas junto con otros familiares y amigos cercanos.

     Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Ramón y María Vásquez; su suegro, Jesús Licea y su suegra, Rosa Licea Mendoza.

     Los portadores del féretro serán Terry Zavala, Jorge Licea, Tacho Nowak y Jimmy Meza

     La visita se realizará a partir de las 6:00 p.m.  a las 8:00 p.m., el miércoles 20 de abril de 2022, en Shafer Funeral Home en Lufkin.
