Raymond Gibson Matherne, 78, of Huntington, was born on May 29, 1946, in Port Arther, Texas, to Charles Gibson Matherne and Mary (Lanclos) Matherne, and died Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Houston.

           Mr. Raymond was of the Catholic faith. He served in the US Navy as a welder. After the Navy he attended Lamar University where he received his bachelor’s degree. He enjoyed classic cars and street rods and belonged to several car clubs in Beaumont and San Antonio. Mr. Raymond loved his wife, and they loved to go fishing together.      

           He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sheena Matherne of Huntington; son, Kip Findley of Beaumont; granddaughter, Brittney Findley of Woodlands, TX;  brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Judy Matherne of Beaumont, TX; nephew and wife, Jason and Holly Matherne of Beaumont, TX;  nephew and wife, Carl and Carol Matherne of Beaumont, TX; great niece, Kate, great nephew, Race of Beaumont, TX; great nephew, Stephen Matherne of Beaumont, TX; great nephew, David Matherne of Beaumont, TX; sister-in-law, Jan Gennusa of San Marcus, TX; and cousin and husband, Donna and Kent Hubbard of Boerne, TX.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Minda Matherne.  

          Service will be held at a later date.
