A Celebration of Life for Reverend Richard Wayne Owen, 73, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Solid Rock Family Church of Lufkin with Bro. John Beauchamp officiating. 

          Rev. Owen was born on February 1, 1953, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to the late Rev. Raymond Earl Owen and the late Dorothy Jane (Wilburn) Owen, and died Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Longview, Texas.

          Rev. Owen was the proud pastor of Solid Rock Family Church of Lufkin for 28 years where he built the church with his own hands. He loved everyone, never met a stranger, and loved to spread the word of God and tell the story of Jesus to all he met. He also helped build several churches around East Texas. He was inspired to perform and support outreach and missionary work and preached to his congregations for over 50 years.

          He served his country as a dutiful Marine where he was stationed in Okinawa Island, Japan, and he was a dedicated member of the Blue Knights for many years. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and helping others. He enjoyed caring for his beloved cats and goats and had recently found a new love of playing golf. His main aspiration in life was to help people in need and tell them about Jesus.

          Richard is survived by his wife, Dianna Owen of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Hollie and John Beauchamp of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Carla Owen of Lufkin; granddaughter, Amber Watson of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Kyle and DeeAnn Beauchamp of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Kelsie and Taylor Carswell of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Hailey and Mitch Sarver of Lufkin; grandson, Kobe Kruse of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Halli and Tim Glasscock of Lufkin; grandson, Karsen Beauchamp of Lufkin; grandson, Kade Kruse of Lufkin; grandson, William Garcia of Lufkin; granddaughter, Luna Owen of Lufkin; granddaughter, Eliana Owen of Lufkin; great-grandson, Daniel Watson of Lufkin; great-grandson, Kevin Ferguson of Lufkin; great-granddaughter, Addilynn Beauchamp of Lufkin; great-grandson, Smith English of Lufkin; great-granddaughter, Madison Carswell of Lufkin; great-granddaughter, Dani Sarver of Lufkin; and on the way, great-grandson, Joshua Glasscock of Lufkin; and more great-grandchildren coming soon; sister, Janet Miller of Henderson, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and church family members.

           Rev. Owen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janie Hollis; and nephews, Devon and Daric Hollis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. DC and Laura Jones.
