Richard Raymond Aman Obituary

Richard Raymond Aman, 63, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. There will be no formal service at this time, and a private burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Aberdeen, SD.

Richard was born on March 26, 1962, to Raymond and Sharon (Carlson) Aman and grew up in Ellendale, ND. He married Linda Hoffman on April 30, 1983.  He earned his undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. He also earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Throughout his career, he created an environment of educational excellence in his leadership roles in several technical colleges in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Texas. After retiring, he learned a new skill as an over-the-road driver and drove for Maverick Transportation. He loved seeing the world through his windshield (he was born to drive!) At the time of his death, Richard lived in Jarrell, TX.

Over his lifetime, Richard had the privilege of impacting many lives in his professional tenure as well as personal interactions.  First and foremost, his family meant the world to him. Richard was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He especially cherished every moment spent with his kids and grandchildren.

At home in Texas, Richard enjoyed weekend drives in his Mustang convertible exploring the Texas Hill Country.  His passion for designing and creating the perfect yard was evident to all his neighbors-and he took much pride in having the best kept yard on the block.

Richard is survived by his life partner/ex-wife, Linda (Hoffman) Aman; daughter, Erika (Denis) McAuliffe; son, Matthew (Ashley) and their children, Stella, Oliver, Henry and Liam; sisters, Elizabeth (Doug) Vetter and Susan (Robert) Haase; as well as many nieces and nephews; and special “adopted” granddaughter, Addison Kennedy.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Aman, Sharon (Carlson) Aman.

In lieu of flowers, should you want to memorialize Richard, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or any charity of your choice.
