Rita Gail (Williams) Burnett

          Memorial services for Rita Gail (Williams) Burnett, 74, of San Augustine, will be held at a later date.

          Mrs. Burnett was born on July 31, 1949, in Eldorado, Illinois, to the late John Robert Williams and Jonnie Joyce (Seals) Rose, and died Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Tyler, Texas.

          If you ever knew Mrs. Burnett, you would know how blessed you were to know her kind sweet soul. Her husband of 56 years can attest to how sweet she was. Mrs. Burnett met the love of her life in 1966, they were married in 1967, and spent the last 56 years together.

          She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Michael Burnett of San Augustine, TX; son, William Burnett of San Augustine, TX; daughter, Rena Burnett of San Augustine, TX; grandson, Shane Burnett of San Augustine, TX; sister, Brenda Spencer of Etoile, TX; sister, Diane Hughes of Evansville, IN; sister, Susan Agnew of Nashville, IL; brother, John Robert Williams II of Norris City, IL; uncle, Wayne Seals of Ft. Worth, TX; cousin, Randy Rose; along with nieces, nephews, and other family members.

          Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents; stepmom, Melba Williams; stepfather, Billy Royce Rose; brother, Robert Dale Williams; uncle, Wayne Seals; and many more nieces, nephews, and cousins.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Burnett, Steven Spencer, John Thomas Spencer IV, Robert Elliott, and Royce Burnett.

          Special memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, M.C. Anderson Cancer Hospital, or to Houston Methodist Hospital.
