Robert Brooks Griffith

            Graveside services for Robert Brooks Griffith, 78, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Lufkin with Jackson Colwell officiating.

            Mr. Griffith was born on October 28, 1945, in Etoile , Texas, to the late James Griffith and Elnora Denman, and died Sunday, November 26, 2023, in his home surrounded by family.

            Mr. Griffith enjoyed watching westerns, drinking coffee, and feeding his wildlife. He loved good conversations with friends and family. Mr. Griffith enjoyed watching “The Hill”. Mr. Griffith loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice in the Pines and Right at Home.  

            He is survived by his son, Shannon Golden of Cullman AL; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Chris Johnson of Huntington; granddaughter and husband, Jordan and Dakota Cummings of Lufkin; grandson, Skylor Matchett of Austin TX; granddaughter and husband, Sydney and Ashton Whitton of Etoile; grandson and wife, Cody and Marissa Johnson of Huntington; grandson, Caleb Johnson of Huntington; grandson, Derrick Kinney of Huntington; great-grandchildren, Jonah and Banks Cummings, Grace and Avery Collman, Huntleigh and Lily Whitton, and  Saylor Johnson; brother, Nathan Griffith of Milam TX; brother, George Griffith of Central; sister, Joyce McCarty of Lufkin; brother-in law and wife, Kenny and Casey Akers; brother-in law and wife, George and Lynn Akers; sister-in-law and husband, Melody and Gary Waddell; sister-in-law and husband, Vicky and Gary Diffley and Tandy Jones; special friends include, Ron and Glenda Nerren, Sammy Kirkland, Richard Dykes, Larry and Terri Collier, Shirley Robbins, Ricky Nerren and Gale Stubblefield; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

           He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Katherine Grace; parents, Buck and Elnora; brothers, James and Timothy; sisters Linda, Ann, and Yvonne; Brother-in-law, Skip; and sister-in-law, Diana. 

            Pallbearers will be Shannon Golden, Vince Minefee, Ricky Nerren, Ron Nerren, Richard Dykes, and Larry Collier.

            Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Skylor Matchett, Cody Johnson, Caleb Johnson, and Derrick Kinney.
