Funeral Services for Rodolfo J. Tamez, Jr., 72, will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home, with Deacon Jesus Reyes officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll, Texas.
Mr. Tamez was born on March 13, 1953, in Raymondville, Texas, and passed away on January 23, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas.
Rudy was a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and a true family man. He had a deep love for the great outdoors and could most often be found with a fishing rod in hand, tucked away in a deer blind, or perched high up in the trees- exactly where he felt most at peace. An avid hunter and fisherman, Rudy believed some of life’s best moments happened quietly, surrounded by nature, good stories, and even better company. He delighted in sharing those moments with family and friends, passing along not only his love for the outdoors but his patience, humor, and appreciation for life’s simple joys.
Mr. Tamez is survived by his loving wife, Terry O. Tamez; mother, Maria Salinas Tamez; brothers, Felix R. Tamez (Barbara), Arturo Tamez (Olivia), Joe Tamez, and Sonny Tamez (Alice); sisters, Mary Tamez, Melva Gonzalez (Sergio), Ernestina Martinez (Gerardo), and Melissa Ancira (Basilio); children, Christopher Tamez, Tabitha Alvarez (Geraldo), and Jennifer Tamez Newton. He proudly embraced his stepchildren, Melissa Rodriguez (Felipe), Robert Flores (Laurie), and Valerie Nelson (Matthew) as his own, sharing with them a deep, meaningful bond built on love, laughter, and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo M. Tamez, Sr., and his beloved daughter, Trudy Lynn Tamez, whom he held forever in his heart.
Rudy will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family, his love of the outdoors, and his ability to find joy in the quiet moments of life. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
