Funeral services for Rose Ellen (Saxton) Havard, 91, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jordan Collard officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Havard was born December 25, 1929, in Diboll, Texas, to Henry Saxton and Nora (Rice) Saxton, and died October 3, 2021 in Lufkin.
Mrs. Havard was lovingly known by many as Granny Rose. She was a member of the Pilot Club in Diboll and Harmony Hill Baptist Church in Lufkin. She was generous to a fault and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Steve Haney of Etoile; son, Matthew Havard of Lufkin; grandchildren, Aaron and Janel McDonald, Brittney and Billy Harshman, Samantha and Roy Smith; great-grandchildren, Xanden, Khyler, Ryley, Tyson, Aspen Rose, August and Arabelle; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Thomas Havard; and a number of brothers and sisters and their spouses.
Pallbearers will be Roy Smith, Billy Harshman, Steven Trevino, Benji Moore, Ralph Cannon, and Tim Bagby.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron McDonald and Mike Free.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Shafer Funeral Chapel in Lufkin.
