Ruby Mae Bass Howard

          Funeral services for Ruby Mae Bass Howard, 77, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, August 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Stillwater Cowboy Church in Huntington with Pastor Chet Strain and Pastor Jacob Casey officiating. Interment will follow at  Hemphill Cemetery in Hemphill.

          Mrs. Howard was born on September 20, 1946, in Hemphill, Texas, to the late Samuel Joseph and Alene Ferguson Bass, and died Thursday, August 1, 2024, in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Howard was a member of Stillwater Cowboy Church where she found joy spending time with her church family. Ruby enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, and loved visiting unannounced. Above all Ruby loved her family.

          She is survived by her son and wife, Dody and Anita Howard of Nacogdoches, TX; son and wife, Ruben James and Charrlotte Howard of Nacogdoches, TX; daughter and husband, Shannon Howard and Robert Ramirez of Three Rivers, TX; daughter and wife, Misty Dawn and Kelly Howard of Nacogdoches, TX; stepson and wife, Kirk and Jessica Selman of Lufkin, TX; brother and wife, Wayne and Delores Brown of Vidor, TX; sister and friend, Alphia Bass and Gary Good of Lufkin, TX; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.            

         She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Douglas McArthur Howard; son, Charles Douglas Howard; daughter, Ruby Darlene Scroggins, brothers David Brown and Sam Bass Jr.; and sisters, Mary Ann McFarland and Virginia Faye Howard.   

          Pallbearers will be Dody Marcus Howard Jr., Edgar Oviedo, Christopher Scroggins, Jose Yanez Jr., J.J Howard, and Douglas Adams.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Dyson, Sam Johnson, Mario Martinez, Joshua Howard, and Tony Scroggins.

          Special memorials may be made to Stillwater Cowboy Church, 777 Farm to Market Rd 1475, Huntington, TX 75949.

          Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at Stillwater Cowboy Church.
