A Celebration of Life for Shaun "Shaundo" David Ward, 48, of Lufkin, will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, with Brother Michael West officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
Shaun was born June 12, 1977, at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He was 48 years old at the time of his death. Shaun affectionately was a “Cali” boy, part Islander boy AND a Texas boy who always had a big ol’ smile on his face that will never be forgotten. There is no doubt that his heart was truly as big as Texas. He was FULL of life, love, and kindness. He loved his big extended families and many friends and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed a love for sports cards and memorabilia, in which he found at flea markets, Goodwill, and garage/estate sales. He loved his “stuff” and like they say, another man’s junk was certainly Shaun’s treasure. He could and would sell you the shirt off his back. If he were a motorcycle/three-wheeler/ four-wheeler, he would have been a HONDA make. Everyone knew he lived for the thrill of them all. He also thought he was a shade tree mechanic, but if you really knew Shaun, he definitely was not! Red was his favorite color, and the Texans were his favorite football team. He loved to cook and grill. He also had a love for R&B and rap music. He loved the beautiful outdoors, lakes, beaches, and back roads of Texas and Cali. He was an extremely hard worker and loved to clean and mow the yard at his Fuller Springs home. One of his last acts of kindness was on the side of the freeway in Houston, where a man had fallen off his wheelchair into the roadway. A woman had blocked one lane to keep traffic from hitting him, and Shaun stopped his car, jumped out, and blocked the other. He picked the man up, put him back in his wheelchair and back on the sidewalk, and sent him on his way. To know him was truly to know an angel. He will be greatly missed by all.
Most importantly, he was of Baptist faith, a born-again Christian, and a firm believer in GOD.
He is survived by his mother, Lu Ramos and partner Manuel Lujan; sons, Marcus Ward; son, Kolby Ward and wife, Abby; sister, Stephanie Ward-Sosa; sister, Hannah Huntsman and husband Brett; step-mom, Charla Stewart and husband Richard; nephew, Jalen Ortiz Ward; aunt, Denise Bridwell and husband Lewis; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Texas. Lastly, he will be greatly missed by his loving dogs, Monkey, “Get Em” and Scooby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald David Ward; grandmother, Shirley Ward- Labosky; grandfather, Gerald Ward; great-grandmother, Elsie Poland; great-grandparents, John Sidney & Mae Walters; grandparents, Hubert and Joan Roebuck.
