Funeral services for Stephen Hively, 68, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Paul Mettlen officiating. Interment will follow at Largent Cemetery.
Mr. Hively was born on January 27, 1957, in Spencer, West Virginia, to the late Andrew Jackson Hively and Bernadine Mae Hively, and died Monday, May 5, 2025, in Lufkin.
Stephen was affectionately known as “Stevie” to his brothers and sisters, and he loved them more than anything. He was a member of First Apostolic Church in Burke. Mr. Hively owned and operated A1 Overhead Doors for many years and was proud that his business had a five star review during its time open. He was an avid deer hunter as well as a gifted craftsman. Mr. Hively loved to build things and was always on the go, working on something. He had an amazing strength about him and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Tammy Criner of Michigan City, IN; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Mike Crager of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and James Mitchell of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Frank Fogal of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Delma Kelley and Mike Priehs of Laneville, TX; stepfather, Harold McChristian of Lufkin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother that raised him, Eula Mecie McChristian; and brothers, Robert A. Criner and Michael L. Criner
Pallbearers will be Bryan Cheatham, Zach Cheatham, Joey Kelley, Franklin Fogal, Keith Parrott, and Jason Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Criner, Ryan Criner, Paul Townley, and Sulfur Creek Hunting Club.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
