Stetson Hunter "Rev" Tobias Obituary

Funeral services for Stetson Hunter “Rev” Tobias, 21, of Burke, will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Drew Rivers officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery.

On January 2, 1997, Stetson Hunter Tobias was born into this world, to Clifton Tobias and LaTonya (Patton) Weiland. Little did we know, he would touch the lives of so many. Stetson brought so much joy, love and kindness to those who knew him, but he also reached out to strangers. Countless times he would be out, and would ask people in lines, the person on the other side of the register, or somebody he was holding the door open for, “How are you?”, or “What has been the best part of your day?”. Stetson loved people, but most of all, he loved Jesus. He grew up, entered High School at Alexandria Sr. High in Alexandria, Louisiana, and in addition to his backpack, he carried his Bible to school every day. Stetson’s football team dubbed him with the nick-name, Reverend. He would leave bible verses on post-it notes on counselor’s doors, and write a new scripture on dry erase boards in class rooms once a week. Stetson worked at the Twin Lakes Campground for the last 4 years. A couple of weeks ago, he said to his momma, “I want to work at the church camp this summer!”; He LOVED that place.  In his heavenly journey, Stetson stopped along the way to give 2 people a lung, one person a liver, and another sight. Jesus said they can have the lungs, liver and corneas, but his heart belongs to me, It’s mine. Stetson’s time here on earth ended May 22, 2018 in San Angelo, Texas.

Stetson was currently working as a Welder’s Helper in the pipeline industry. He enjoyed playing football and basketball, and being outside on the water. His main passion was ministering to people. Stetson always went out of his way to talk to people and let them know about salvation. He was a real man of the Lord and loved to work at church youth camps.
