Funeral services for Sue S. Pounds, 87, of Diboll, Texas will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas with Rosemary Berry and Brother John Rush officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.

          Mrs. Pounds was born on September 19, 1938, in Wells, Texas, to the late Milton Staton and the late Loretta McCarty, and died Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Lufkin.

          Sue was a dedicated member of the Burke Community Church, which she dearly loved. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and her favorite destination was Branson, MO. She was a fan of western television shows like Gunsmoke and Cheyenne, and she loved to dance. Given the chance, Sue would shop until she dropped.

          She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Dorothy Harris; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Becky Renfro; son and daughter-in-love, Mike and Missie Barbe; daughter-in-law, Robbie Harris; daughter-in-law, Kristin Renfro-Griffin; granddaughter, LaTasha Hughes; grandson and wife, Michael and Jeannie Lowing; granddaughter and husband, Lauren and Heath Weissert; grandson, Jonathan Harris; grandson and wife, Ethan and Michelle Renfro; granddaughter, Chaney Renfro (Buck); granddaughter, Jordi Renfro (Ketrick); grandson and wife, Matt and Callie Barbe; granddaughter, Megan Barbe (Anthony); grandson and wife, Trey and Kimberly Pounds; granddaughter and husband, Kendell and Jeff Barney; 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Able Zavalla; brother-in-law, Joe Thigpen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

          Mrs. Pounds was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Pounds; son, Bobby Harris; son, David Renfro; grandson, Dylan Renfro; daughter-in-law, Ann Renfro; brother, Charles Staton; sister, Ann Thigpen; sister, Irene (Rene) Southern; and sister, Dale Bollier.

          Pallbearers will be Mike Barbe, Joe Thigpen, Robert Thigpen, Clayton Thigpen, Matt Barbe, Jason Hannah, Thomas Strait, and Shane Thigpen.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Harris, Ethan Renfro, Michael Lowing, Heath Weissert, Buck Farr, Ketrick Holmes, Steve Bollier, and Anthony Vela.

          The family would like to offer special thanks to the ICU nursing staff at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home.
