A Celebration of life for Theodore “Ted” R. Livin, 90, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Mena, Arkansas.
Mr. Livin was born on September 25, 1934, in East Hampton, Long Island, New the late Theodore Rosevelt Livin, Sr. and Winiford (Abrams) Livin, and passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Tyler, Texas.
Ted grew up on St. Simons Island, Georgia and relocated to Houston, Texas in 1952. Ted obtained an engineering degree from the University of Houston. He met Jo Ella “Jo” Barnes in 1957, what he considered the luckiest day of his life, was married in 1958, and enjoyed the next 59 years in marriage to Jo. Ted worked in the engineering field, with Jo having the task of raising their two sons, Jeff and Greg. Ted enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining with family and friends, and following his beloved Houston Astros. Ted and Jo relocated from Houston to Mena, Arkansas in 2001 to be closer to extended family. Ted and Jo were members of the First United Methodist Church in Mena. A few years after Jo’s passing in 2017, Ted relocated to Lufkin, Texas to be closer to his immediate family.
He is survived by his sisters Barbara Livin Peters of La Porte, Texas and Sandra Sigler and her husband Jerry of Kyle, Texas, his son Jeff Livin and wife Cindy of Lufkin, Texas, son Greg Livin of Lakewood, Colorado, grandchildren Cassidy Kirkland and her husband Cash of Lufkin, Jessie Livin and Tanner Livin of Lufkin, and Drew and Sam Livin of Lakewood, Colorado, and great grandson Micah Livin of Lufkin. Ted is also survived by several close extended family and friends he considered extended family, Jerry and Gary Ryan and Moppy Billingsley of Mena, Arkansas, Jennifer Hardegree of Mena, and Jimmy and Shanna English of Lufkin, along with many others that were so meaningful in Ted’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society in remembrance of Ted.
