Tony Joseph Garrett, 77, of Lufkin, was born on September 7, 1947, in Bakersfield, California, to Gene Monroe and Marjorie (Crestman) Monroe, and died Monday, July 7, 2025, in Lufkin.
Mr. Garrett served in the US Army and was very involved in veteran activities. He was a highly talented and respected aircraft mechanic for over 50 years. He was a very dedicated worker and committed himself to the job, often when others wouldn’t. Mr. Garrett was a beloved husband, father, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Marianna Garrett of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Stephanie and James Cooper of Galveston, TX; son and wife, Brian and Alexandria Garrett of Washington D.C.; granddaughter and husband Chelan and Nate Hale of Denton, TX; brother and wife, Fred and Sandy Garrett of Puyallup, WA; nieces and nephews, Tiffany Lindsay, John Maggard, and Vicky Garrett; and sister-in-law and husband, Kathryn and Whitney Bowles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Mitchell.
