Mr. Wayne R. Morgan, 93, was born on September 24, 1932, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to the late Richard Bland Morgan and the late Pearl Irene (Rich) Morgan, and died Friday, June 19, 2026, in Lufkin, Texas.

          Wayne began his career as the Minister of Music at the First Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas after having received a Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor University. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Wayne was self-employed most of his life and opened numerous gun shops including Morgan’s Gun Shop in Ft. Worth. Later, he owned the Ranch House Gallery, also in Ft. Worth, before moving to Ruidoso, New Mexico to open The Ruidoso Store. Mr. Morgan was an avid collector of guns, coins, antiques, and Native American artifacts.

           He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Houston) Morgan of Lufkin, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Melody Work and David Lee Work of Lufkin; daughter, Laura L. Morgan of Justin, Texas; grandson and wife, Aaron and Vanessa Kotila, The Colony, Texas; granddaughter and husband, Kimberly and Cody McMaster of Aurora, Colorado; niece, Lee Ann Patterson Clark of Lubbock, Texas; nephew, Ed Patterson of Longview, Texas; niece, Laura Patterson Whitaker of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and several great-nieces and nephews.

           Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Pearl Morgan.
