Funeral services for Wilburn Ward, Sr., 75, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Pastor Justin Lindsey officiating.
Wilburn was born on June 25, 1949, in Jasper, Texas, to the late Eugene Ward and Margaret (Goins) Ward, and died Saturday, January 11, 2025, at his residence.
Wilburn was a loving and devoted husband for many years to his wife, Pearl. He loved his family and left a great impression on anyone he came across. Wilburn would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved to fish, hunt, being outdoors, and operating the dozer. Wilburn knew how to garden off the top of his head. He loved his morning coffee and a cigarette. But most of all, he loved the Lord.
Wilburn is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, J.R. and Patti Ward; daughter, Trina Ward; daughter, Jessika McCreary; granddaughter, Madison; granddaughter and husband, Holli and Chris; granddaughter, Amanda; granddaughter and husband, Ashley and Shane; grandson, Taylor; grandson, Dakoda; granddaughter and husband, Paige and Tyler; grandson, Zack; along with numerous great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon Ray and Faye Ward; and sister, Patricia Brush.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pearl Ward; and sisters, Deborah Jean Sims and Sherry Ann Jordan.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service.
