William D. Martin, age 83, died on Sunday, July 20, 2025. He was born in Texarkana, Texas, on August 31, 1941, to William R. and Eula (Swann) Martin.
He graduated from Texas High School in 1959, then attended North Texas State University. Possibly his favorite employment was at Yellowstone National Park, later Denver, Colorado, where he serviced motorcycles, honing his skills as a mechanic. In 1973, he used his knowledge to set up a motorcycle dealership in Lufkin, Texas. He was a fan of the blues and loved to read, especially Texas history. Most will remember his gift of gab and his free spirit, living by his own rules.
Will leaves behind many friends and family, including his daughter, Margaret Ann Martin. He will also be missed by his niece, Barbara L. Gaither and husband Jerry, nephews, David R. Elkins and Steven M. Elkins and wife Kris, and cousins, Barbara Joyce Owens and husband Jim and David Clark.
Will was preceded in death by both of his parents; and sister, Francis Ann Elkins.
Finally, his family would like to extend their gratitude to Jan and Gary Selman who provided Will with Christian fellowship and charity that eased his passing.
