          Memorial services for Iona (Housworth) Alexander Peacock, 97, of Pollok, will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Horace Fletcher officiating. There will be a private graveside service prior to the memorial service.

          She was born July 18, 1920 in Upshire Co., Texas, the daughter of Joseph H. Housworth and Versie Fielden Faulkner, and died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Lufkin.

Ms. Peacock owned and operated Iona’s Mexican Food from 1950 to the mid 1970’s. She was known for her chili, salad dressing and fried pies. Iona retired from Brookshire Brothers Gaslight location #25 after many years of service. She was known as being the “Little French Bread Lady” and her famous quote was “Piping hot right out of the oven!”

          She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wyanda (Alexander) and Glenn Allen of Pollok; granddaughter and husband, Lisa and Justin Monceaux of Pollok; grandson and wife, Joe and Susan Allen of Sugarland; grandson and wife, Lonnie and Sue Allen of Lucedale, MS; great-granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Trey Szymborski of Pollok; great-granddaughter and husband, Samantha and Javier Peralta of Nacogdoches; great-granddaughter, Suzette Monceaux of Pollok; great-granddaughter, Taylor Allen of Sugarland; great-granddaughter and husband, Lindsey and John Jesse of Crosby, TX; great-grandson, Lonnie Lee Allen of Crosby, TX; great-granddaughter, Ashely Sayad of Watertown, WI; great-great-grandson, Quinten Smith of Pollok; great-great-granddaughter, Skyllar Smith of Pollok; great-great-granddaughters, Heaven Lee, Patience Szymborski,  and Hope Szymborski, all of Pollok; great-great-grandson, Aiden Stewart of Pollok; great-great-grandson, Frey Stewart of Baytown;  great-great-granddaughters, Azaria Peralta and Genesis Peralta, both of Nacogdoches; great-great-grandson, Francisco Peralta of Nacogdoches; great-great-granddaughters, Emily Jesse and Melody Jesse, both of Crosby; great-great-grandson Jonathan Jesse of Crosby; and great-great-granddaughter, Makayla Abbott of Watertown, WI;

          Ms. Peacock was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers and 5 sisters; great-grandsons, Brandon Smith and Casey Redden; great-granddaughter, Julie Ann Allen; and great-great-granddaughter, Serenity Ann Szymborski.
